52 Weeks of Color - Patina - Week 5

I like totally didn't know where I was going with this one. Nor where I would end up.

I kept thinking, this is an easy color, I've seen it and own it and I like it.

From which stores and what it was called is totally another story.

Blog-hopping I found a blog that gave me some ideas - and finally I ended up at The Whore Mansion. But after checking and rechecking the swatch (and several 100 L$ less), the color wasn't quite right. It was too blue - turquoise and not enough green.

So I went home and started digging through inventory. I came up with this cute pair of socks from *elymode* which I'm wearing but you can't see. But then I hopped over to her store to check.

I bought some cutesies and took a hint from her vendor poster for the hair - this is Truth Hawk's colormint shade.

OK so I went home and played and gott dressed and had my outfit ready more or less. I kept a bra from The Whore Mansion and some panties I found in my inventory and decided to use purple for my secondary color. The shoes are freebies from TDR but the closes was this pinky/fuchsia color oh well.

OK NOW WHAT??

There is that minor detail about, you need to take a picture...... LOL

I'm sitting at home and playing with my cats and I look at the wall and there's an Art Deco painting, a gift for my birthday from my friend Melu.

The color is just right.......

Armed with just the painting I went up to the studio. This is what came out, hope you like. No Photoshops were hurt during the making of these piccies (except for the text)

Stars*Fashion meets Tameless Hair!

Today I will show you three new outfits from Stars*Fashion (Atlante Guerrero).

I have paired them up with new hair from Tameless Hair by Nita Bracken. All the hair came in a multitude of colors; I chose a specific one to go with each dress. They are two releases for January from Nita.

Two of the three outfits came with boots too; the first one here I paired up with my Bax Coen "Prestige" boots in red.

The first outfit is called Lovingly, and very appropriately named too! A mix of cute and sexy, t's perfect for the coming Valentine's day. I wore Chrissie which is a cute updo, with bangs on the front, braided in back, and curled at the ends to make it move with every wisp of the wind. I added a shy pair of glasses to get the look I wanted and an Earthstones necklace as well as a choker to emphasize the strapless minidress. I love the way it emphasizes my every curve while still keeping it cute with the big bow in front.

Next comes Innocently, matched up with Dori hair which is a black straight short style, with a hairpin holding it back in front, which seemed perfect for this. The boots as said are included with the outfit. I love the tartan pattern on the minidress, reminiscent of high school days long gone. Again we have a belt tied in a bow in front for that added cuteness :P

Lastly, Luminosity, another minidress, this time in a shade of blue and tight fitting, with a short jacket again and matching boots, very urban casual. The hair is Sugar, and can be worn with or without the braids, depending on the look you want to give your outfit.

The permissions are both copy and modify. However, due to the scripts in our hair it will show no modify in your inventory. When you wear or rez the hair, right click and then click edit it will show modify permissions. If you wish to modify the hair we recomend that you make a copy in your inventory first so that you will always have an orignal to go back to. Each hairstyle has a resizer script to make it easy to resize your hair.
If you wish to turn off the scripts in a viewer 1.X simply right click on the hair and click Edit. Go to Tools?Set Scripts To Not Running. To turn them back on do the same only click Set Scripts to running instead.
For V2 and V3 edit the hair and click Build>Scripts, then click Set To Running or Set To Not Running.

A total of 6 designers including: Blacklace, !dm deviousMind, Hugo's Design, INSOLENCE, Lady Thera and Mon Cheri will be participating in this event, which will feature custom built set designs, choreography, and special effects in a way never before seen in Second Life.

Animations will be provided by Animazoo, MyANIMATION (who are creating dances specifically for this show) and Vista Animations.

52 Weeks of Color 2012 - Iron - Week 4

The Iron in the swatch looked real pale, so I went for a more grey shade. Which didn't leave me with much I hadn't already used.

But then I found this dress. It seems I'm not the only one who found it, I was hoping not to follow the traditional store hints but there's always a chance.

I wanted some cool boots for it and TEN 10 had some but I wasn't sure if in grey; my friend had a pair and I asked to see them. It turns out the color s called BLUE but it works.

The rest I sort of threw together - and it looks that way I know :P A LoQ hair that matched and earring from Glow Studio.

Lastly I wanted more iron in the pic - and I got to thinking Steampunk. Before I started heading out for all the Steampunk sims like Caledon I dug through my inventory and everything I found is from *TMS*Twisted Metal Steamorks by Leona Upshaw.

Angels & Demons presents: Balance

I received this item to blog recently. It is from Angels and Demons, by Aliza Karu. I had actually seen it in blogs or flickr too and decided to give it my best shot.

I went to see her blog and also her store. It is a pretty amazing store, very well constructed. The most perturbing aspect, but also the most fun, is the furniture which is giant-sized - I found myself sleeping in a drawer at one point.

This outfit is her contribution to the Horror Haute sales event. Aliza says:

Here is my interpretation of this avant-garde outfit. I paired it with a beautiful jewelry set I got from SadBab, a pai of shoes from Finesmith, and a skin from Nuuna. I wanted a monochromatic theme to it.

I will need several people in various timezones as training will be done in shifts based on the timezones from which these representatives will be from.

Virtual Worlds Best Practices in Education is working on its 5th year and could not have been successful without the help of you.

All positions are important and your assistance will be genuinely appreciated, we are working on ways to show our appreciation specific to the interests of each individual.

Any time you can offer towards this Global Event scheduled for March 15th-17th will not only be appreciated but will show that all those who give their time so selflessly to help New Residents.

If you are interested in volunteering we have several areas that basically require nothing more than what many of you do on a daily basis.

We are expecting 120-130 presenters world-wide to join this year and show how virtual worlds help the learning process offering a unique
ability to take education to a higher ground. As most of you are aware many of us learned in Second life via text, visual, audio and hand's on by which using the 4 basic learning styles has made virtual worlds both an epic and easy way for many to learn at a quicker pace.

Some of the areas we will need well staffed are Moderators, which is simply assisting those that come in-world with being prepared to rez the objects they bring to display their work, announcing each representative before their presentation, keeping track of time as each presenter is generally limited to one hour. They do not speak for the entire hour as you will also be their time keeper letting them know when they need to wrap up their presentation about 10 minutes before the next presenter goes on stage. Some presenters may want to share a Q&A time, usually at 40 past the hour, giving people enough time to ask questions however not all presenters will want to have a Q&A period.

One thing that would make this easy and less demanding for all is if we can get enough volunteer Moderators so that less of your precious time in Second Life is needed. Also it would be helpful to ensure that should we not obtain at least 100 Moderators that some of you might offer your time as back-up in the event that "RL" or physical life obligations and emergencies do come up.

We will need Greeters for New Residents who come mainly to attend this event and those who are strong with SL Viewer 2 and other viewers used. I mention Viewer 2 because many of those who come into Second Life specifically for this event usually use the download provided for them on the SecondLife.com page.

There are several positions that we are still hoping to fill such as

Volunteer Outreach Coordinator;
Communicate with VWBPE Chairs to get their volunteer needs and timelines for volunteers.

Develop and administer collection tools for individuals to volunteer. Tools will need to be checked every 24-72 hours depending on needs of
training and filling volunteer positions.

After communicating with VWBPE Chairs, write content for listservers, blogs and tweets that are calls for volunteers.

Assist Volunteer Chair with developing a list of all volunteers needed during conference.

Volunteer Training;
Help recruit volunteers.

Develop volunteer toolkit (live binder).

Develop and schedule volunteer training for 2012 conference volunteers (excluding programs, social, communication).

Report regularly to Volunteer Chair and Directors on progress of volunteer training.

Volunteer Scheduling/Supervising Coordinators (Second Life Multiple needed);

Prior to the conference, develop a schedule that is extremely easy for facilitators, greeters and techs to sign-up on.

During conference, be the point of contact for volunteers to ask questions and to also staff positions according to needs.

Coordinate facilitator, greeter and tech schedule.

Work with the Volunteer Chair to ensure that all sessions have an assigned moderator and that the moderator is trained

Work with Volunteer Chair to give Logistics chair the name and assignment of all moderators for the schedule

During the days of the conference, along with Volunteer Chair coordinate all volunteer activities to include reassignment and filling of open moderator and greeter positions on Gateway and on the VWBPE sites.

OpenSim Scheduling/Supervising Coordinators:

Prior to the conference, develop a schedule that is extremely easy for facilitators, greeters and techs to sign-up on.

During conference, be the point of contact for volunteers to ask questions and to also staff positions according to needs.

Coordinate facilitator, greeter and tech schedule.

Work with the Volunteer Chair to ensure that all sessions have an assigned moderator and that the moderator is trained

I understand from personal experience that often these positions are rewarding in more ways than I can list. For me the true reward is helping another who is often very grateful for your help.

I cannot emphasize enough the more people willing to sign up to assist this year the less time will be needed of each of you, allowing you to
have your *fun time* in Second Life as well. We will definitely need those of you who are either bilingual or adept with translators as these
presentations do come from all over the world.

Moderators, Greeters and Trainers will be needed before the event. I believe the very title implies 1 hour sessions to coordinate and make sure everyone is comfortable with their positions before the actual weekend.

I assure you only the weekend of the actual event for most is demanding.

It would be my honor to work with you and see the type of teamwork that makes all those who help New Residents in Second Life a valuable
experience.

Well, I eventually decided Indigo for me is more blue than purple. And Google and some designers aree. So THERE.

I had a couple of choices in my inventory, found something in Marketplace, and of course several suggestions came from the group and the bloggers on Plurk as well. I ignored those because I eventually decided everyone would have the same outfits.... Not that what I did was especially original but I went to it on my own.

This is another MESH outfit, so if you can't see mesh, you unfortunately get to see the photos only. It's also one of my current favorites which I got in black first.

Melu Deco Perfume Bottles Collection - Shop and play!

Dear friends, dear customers of Melu Deco,

I'm pleased to let you know a new initiative i'm doing at my stores, and I hope you'll like it.

I had the idea to create vintage perfume bottles and i thought to sell them in a more funny way than the usual one.

I made a Gatcha with more than 50 bottles at 50 l$ each and i invite customers to collect them. Since they are transfer, ppl are able to exchange their copies with friends to complete the 10 sets of the collection. When a single set of 5 bottles is complete, the collector will receive a gift from my brand.
Moreover, bottles are entitled to famous people of the Art Deco decades, so they stimulate people to learn more about those great times :)

I think it should be funny and new for SL.

Nita Bracken, owner/designer of Tameless Hair & Avatars, sent me these in a moment in which I had so much stuff I never got to them on time.

Well better late than never, I found out the hairs are really cute! All the relevant info is listed below from Nita's notecard. I got the hair "fatpack" with all the colors and streaks too. Some of the colors are pretty wild, I'll let you discover those they can be fun!

What I was a little afrait to try, thinking I might just use the vendor shots, was her complete avie sets. 52 Weeks of Color - Coral - Week 2

OK, ok, so I forgot Coral was coming up. I only had a few things in my inventory; I wanted to use my house which just happened to match.

Yes, I know I'm wearing an elegant necklace, casual top, nothing except panties and boots on the bottom. But I felt like lounging around the house anyway and anything except the bra & panties is just me trying things on for the day :P

The hair is an ancient one from Sirena - why it's called Coral is still beyond me. Everything else sortof matches considering there are about a million different coral colors.... Anyway here's my take on coral:

Some may have noticed a barrage of scandalous photos hitting the SL interwebs this past holiday season. It seems it was all part of the strategic marketing campaign for the newly opening RP sim Alura Hills, home of the exclusive Lure Manor. Spearheaded by the AVENUE Marketing team this project definitely got a reaction within the SL community. Good or bad…there was a reaction, even within the role-play never before have the inner stories of SL's fashion elite been so exposed.

In an economic climate where less are logging in and less are spending, it may be just the right time to settle into some fun and awaken our inner fantasies. Alura Hills is a full role-play community divided over 2-sims, first entering into the town with shops, theatre, cafe and club, one can enjoy themselves even outside of the "story" being built around them. Or if you're interested in exploring the role-play deeper you can work to gain access within the most elusive layers of Lure Manor. There truly is something for everyone.

BCT is a new texture store, located on the Show Me Yours gallery location. It is run by Marissa Bergan & Lyrilen Moonshadow; Lyrilen has been curator of the SMY gallery since I have joined it and now they have this new venture.

I received this blogger's box with the first textures that are ready; the store is just barely open and I'm usre more will come!

But you should go have a look at it now: there are 12 free texture packs of various nature outside the store, from real backgrounds to effects and holiday things to add to your pictures.

Julia Merosi of Je Suis, this time a brand known to me, has also contributed to the Peace on Earth hunt.

I stuck to my "look of the day" because I thought it would pair up rather nicely with it.

She provided me with a nice soft scarf so I could go out in my garden and take in the view, even though the air is chilly and the snow will be on the ground for a while to come still.

Today, inspired by, among other things, my new dress, I decided some jewelry would be nice for a change!

MEB and Melu Deco for Peace on Earth hunt!

Today I will present you MEB Fashion and Melu Deco's gifts for the Peace on Earth hunt.
Yes, a modern fashion store and a furniture store.
Why, do you ask? The answer is simple.

I have been following MEB since almost its beginning, when it was a small store in a dubious sim with a big blue neon sign, known as the MariaElena Barstore.

It had the prettiest logo I had ever seen :P

I presented it, with an interview to designer MariaElena Barbosa, in an article in BeStyle magazine in the November 2008 issue, and updated the readers again in another article in November 2009 in that same magazine.

Around that time something happened which, in my opinion, changed the destiny of MEB forever.

Melusina Parkin entered the Second Life scene and became MEB manager.
Leaving MariaElena to concentrate on what she does best, make beautiful modern designs wearable for all, as she says "Real Style in Second Life", Melusina took over just about everything else concerning the brand. She is in charge of managing the main store and many satellite locations; she handles the marketing with many fashion brands; she organizes events, shows, sales and special discounts; she investigates the fashion industry and keeps the MEB brand PR alive.

What's more, she's become one of the best friends I have.

With her help, and Maria's incessant hard work, MEB has grown through three mainstores after that, to finally arrive at Klio where it is now. It has been in some of the biggest and smallest fashion shows and is now on its own sim.

And if all this wasn't enough, Melu decided she had time, energy and patience for more. An intelligent, creative woman, knowledgeable in fashion, art, and history of both specialising in all things vintage, she had been experimenting and decided to open an Art Deco furniture store.

Enter Melu Deco. I was there to see this opening and I was there for almost all of MEB's story too and I must say, both will always be in my heart. The people involved have become important in my SL.

Melu Deco developed more slowly. The target market was a very difficult one. I'd say a good part of Second Life doesn't even know what Art Deco is.
But Melu helped in that respect as well. I have learned a lot about Deco, its development in the 20's and 30's in France first, then its move over the ocean to the American Deco styles.

Currently she is involved in photography exhibits, art lectures, builder contests; her horizons are forever expanding and what's more she's having the time of her life at it! All her products are based on RL versions or styles, and she ranges from furniture to lamps, rugs (she makes excellent textures), perfume bottles, vases, and who knows what more to come.

Here you see, indissoluble and undivided, MEB's outfit for the hunt, MEB : Audrey Red Winter, together with Melu Deco's Hollywood Couch Christmas edition. I'll let the outfit, which comes with boots, speak for itself. Melu says about the couch:

A 1930s luxurious couch in a special version that recalls Christmas atmosphere through red and white colors of the wood and of the leather. A rare deep red mahogany, not veined, and white quilted leather contrast with the black finishing of the wooden parts, typical of Art Deco furniture.
One sitting pose each cushion; 9 prims; no mod, no copy, no transfer.

Peace on Earth hunt for Xmas!

For this post I have united several things to show you because they are all fun to see together.

First comes the Marlea skin from Dulce Secrets, by Anne Maertens (annealyce.maertens).
It's a nice soft skin, for dark hair, and comes in 3 versions but I couldn't show you those because of my panties LOL. Suffice it to say they are Natural, Bikini and Full.
Note I am not wearing any lashes in the pictures.
She also makes men's skins, makeups and tattoos.

To show off the skin I added the Lindy retro pumps, by Delinda Abbot. She started making her own shoes when she didn't find any she liked. I think the ones she gave for the POE hunt are adorably cute!
Heels come in V2 (alpha) and older (invisiprim) style but she also makes flats which don't need it, and some come with HUDs as well.

The jewels are from WTG by tosy Xue. They are a matched set, earrings and necklace. She makes sure to tell us that a matching bangle will be available as gift at the store throughout december.

The trellis is from Ruth's Creations by Ruth Meryman and I think is just so pretty! But then everyone knows I LOVE roses. She also has a Marketplace link. I quote her: "Ruth's Creations has home decor, gifts, and much, much more!"

Note: the Ivy on my house is not part of this gift. The trellis is 28 prims.

The poses are from look@me by klita Slade. She provides her gift in single poses and in poseballs too; her poses are also available on marketplace. All her poses are priority 4 and copy/mod no transfer. She also has a Flickr and a Blog. Some poses come as props in her store, with furniture included. Her gift also includes 2 men's poses.

This outfit from Cilian'gel by Cilia Shepherd can be a party dress or a gala gown.
I choose to present it first as the latter as it is really stunning!

This is Kaligawa Originals' gift for the 4th Peace on Earth hunt. I think it's adorable and a lot of fun, and it's big enough to live in! It comes surrounded by snow, and with the log pie outside to use for the fireplace. The rugs are texture change but I liked the white furry ones for when it's cold especially getting out of bed!
The upstairs is good for sleeping and downstairs you have a living area and a fireplace dividing the room with the back. There is a side entrance as you will see as well as the main one.

Note: I added a couple pieces of snow and the trees; however the cabin comes surrounded by a huge snowy patch in an of itself!

Today I present to you a brand of outfits I didn't know, *Stars*Fashion*. Run By Atlante Guerrero, from what I've seen it concentrates on the "urban-sexy" style. He has a mall where his and other items are sold. But see for yourself.

I am also showing you, from Scandinavian Designs, made by Wipster Baxter, her gift for the Peace on Earth Hunt 4. This is a cute pose prop to use in a living area to sit on, containing 9 (?) female poses and 9 male ones, menu-driven. It's just too cute and I loved playing with it, indoors or out; the only thing I miss is only one person can use it at a time.

About MELUSINA
Melusina Parkin has lived in SL since September 2008. In January 2009 she began working at MEB Fashion, and is now CEO of that brand. She shared with the MEB owner and designer MariaElena Barbosa and with the Media Director Pandora Runo the adventure of developing that brand, which is now one of the outstanding labels in SL fashion. KittyCatS Winterland!

This year, to celebrate the Christmas season with our favorite kitties, Callie Cline and her team have set up the KittyCatS Winterland.

This is a breathtakingly beautiful winter sim with all kinds of little houses for the kitties, each in a different theme, which you can vote for and decide which you like best. I, being blonde, couldn't sort out the vote button which seemed not to work - but perhaps it was the lag and anyways I would have voted for all of them!

Also, there is an advent calendar. It is full of cool gifts from many designers - you can pop open a window for the day and get the gift, and the days past if you missed them, but you can't open future days yet of course.

I have 24 piccies - just like the calendar - but you can see these before the corresponding date comes too!

Nzuri Home

Another fun set I received to blog recently was for Nzuri. Owned by Tracy Rubble, the store is maybe more known for its clothes line. But today I will present to you her adorable household items - Nzuri Home line just opened.

When I wake up in the morning, the first thing I need to do is have some coffee or I don't make any sense. If the weather is nice like today I can take it on the terrace and enjoy the view from my home. The sun is lazily coming up and the mood is relaxed and wonderful; it's the weekend and I have nothing pressing to do.

Here you see the Bistro Table and Accessories.

It is comprised of the Bistro table, Bistro mug, Cupcake, and Vase of Flowers. I have added the wood colored candle from her Tealight Holders set, and the Pink Stripes lamp from the Covered Lamps set of 3.
I am hiding in the shadows 'cos I'm not ready to face the world just yet.

After my coffee and cupcake I can get ready for my day. Tracy helped me with a nice set of bath accessories called "Script" Bathroom set.

Peace on Earth 4 hunt - #3

Today's first hit was the dress. Simple, cute. And it fit remarkably well! I only had to slightly adjust the skirt. It is made by 1 Hundred (Sira Savira), a brand I had never heard of. The best part about hunts, I always thought, is discovering all these designers you don't know about and how many wonderful things are being made in SL!

Then I went digging for something to match with it and I came up with this adorable necklace in full Christmas spirit, while not being overpowering with the Yuletide spirit. Just - right. :) This is from Plurabelle Laszlo, of Bliensen + MaiTai. She makes an incredible arrangement of things from jewelry to outfits to shoes in various styles including vintage, and

As I kept digging through my things I found a prop. I looked at it from a few different angles and decided it could go nicely with I was already wearing, and keep following the theme. It's a little cloud to sit on, full of cute poses, very customizable with its notecard; and it comes with cute little angel wings to wear :P

This One's For Tabby

Today I started sorting some more of my Peace on Earth things to blog. One of the first that caught my eye (thank you designers for including pictures!) was this hair called Volcanus from Vanity Hair by Tabata Jewell.

Tabby was a model with me some time back; I remember one day when she told us she was considering beginning designing in the hair specialization.

Well, as they say, You've come a long way, Baby!

She showed us her first creations and we were amazed right from the start.

Since then, she's improved several times over. Most of her styles are a bit too progressive for the boring hairdos I usually run around in, but I've been re-appreciating her lately, between sales, styling and other occasions.

THIS struck me particularly today, I think it's amazing!

The Hunt Is On!

Well not really. It starts december 1st!!

For my first post, I will be presenting the gifts of Just in the Nick of Time (Nickee Ninetails) and DragonLady's Closet (DragonLady Majestic).

Just in the Nick of Time is a store I already knew. She has lots of fun props of various kinds to use around the house, for photos, in the garden etc, and has always an exquisite taste in setting up her land.

Nickee's gift is a fun and appropriate prop for the coming Christmas season. It's a big glass of Bubbly with a strawberry in it, and when you sit on it you are sucking out of a big straw - slurping sounds included if desired! It's too unbearably cute. It is called Blissful Bubbles:

I paired this with DragonLady's Closet because she is offering an outfit, or rather two: one for the men and one for the ladies. The outfit for the girls is a lovely shade of blue; and she included a few cute accessories to make it all fun and festive!

It comes with a normal pose stand and one with a twirly pose which I used for the shot:

Laura presents Somnia by Sanura Snowpaw

I recently got a message from the Somnia owner Sanura Snowpaw, which said I was receiving a gift certificate to pick out things in her store to blog.

So I headed over and found lots of cute casual things. I concentrated on the outfits but she has lots of other stuff too; I got a necklace and a house as well! It's called Passion Skybox, comes furnished or unfurnished, and the first pictures you see were shot there. All the pieces come separate too, as you'll see below.

Everything I got in terms of clothes came in packs with several colors to choose from, 4-6 usually. There were several packs too; so for some items, she has made something like 16 to 20 different color combinations. I picked these Waders in red and the Bo Peek top in pink for this shot in a corner of the skybox.

Update from Sanura Snowpaw: Thank you so much for a wonderful blog post! I wanted to let you know there are actually sleeping poses in the pillow on the bed and for the funiture there is a pose in each prim so if you click to sit in different prims you can have different poses and more than one person can sit with you :)

Finally I derezzed everything from the sandbox and went home (the house is 303 prims, furnished). And I realized her things would be perfect in my living room!

Laura presents: Aberrant!

I recently received a box called Ultimate Bloggers Pack. It was from a brand I didn't know before, Aberrant, and the designer is Dylain Nikita.

All excited I opened it and found a nice warm sweater, and a fun set of accessories for the urban casual that's in me: a nice warm plaid knit scarf, decorated with a pin with a skull on it; a set of fingerless gloves, and a fun and unusual ring with ... a boombox on it!

I'm standing in my room with my new outfit when I realize.. it doesn't come with a bottom! As I sit there in my panties I go digging for a pair of pants that would work and not overpower the outfit.

Once I find something suitable, I set about making some pictures in my studio. I pick out shoes, accessories, hair and my new pair of shades which I got for my birthday :P

Next thing I found was a set of earrings in a jewelry store I had never seen and those got thrown in for good measure.

About midway through the shoot I realize something else would go well with this and drag out one of my new leather jackets, the Chiodo from MEB, just released.

I got two new swimsuits from Luana Barzane of Amarelo Manga this weekend. One is a strapless bikini called Anubis, with both straps going on the back, leaving shoulders free; and one is a one-piece blue and white, named Fes, with a lovely collar on it, made for showing off legs more than any actual swimming. 52 Weeks of Color - Wenge - Week 49

I was looking around for clothes yesterday, and ended up at Copley's Square.

I had gotten a notecard for something but ended up wandering though the whole sim not really finding anything that screamed "buy me" at me.

Then I found out there was a Zaara store there. And (lo and behold) thee was a look I could make that, while not my typical look, wasn't too far off and fit the color reasonably so.

I then ended up at Kalnin's and found some boots I wanted but no matter what I tried they just SO did not go with the outfit. So threw those out and settled for my brown Prestige instead.

I wanted an ethnic look to go with so I chose jewelry from Uzuri; the Truth hair seemed to match the Zaara look although I didn't have a hair thingy to tie it back in the color I wanted so it's a lighter green.

The lipstick is from Glamorize and I'm still not sure how I feel about the parted lips, but it matched.

Then I had to find a place, and Sierra Sugar came to the rescue! Or rather her blog, where I found a beautiful sim, Alirium, all set up for (among other things) autumn.

The place is no-rez no-script and taking pics was not that easy, these are done with my AO... I tried to leave and wear various huds and come back but neither of them worked once I came in. Have yet to figure out why some work if you wear them first on no script land, and some doesn't. There mighr be some explanation not suitable for blondes I suppose.

The Borobudur is an interesting place.

It is the biggest Buddhist temple in the world.

I was there as a little girl, and was delighted to find hat it had been replicated in SL.

It's a shame you really can't see it by the time I got done with my photos.... I'm still going through my Photoshop tutorials as well as doing the "let's try what this button does?" routine

You'll have to go see it for yourself!

This set doesn't have much of a story.

I found the top and it was cute and the color seemed perfect.

Then I discovered the skirt - I love pencil skirts and system skirts in SL, and it seemed to go well, so I paired it with the top.

The purse doesn't go to save its life - but anyone who knows me, knows about PINK and knows about PURSES.

So this is what you get this week!

According to the American Cancer Society (ACS), a woman in the United States is diagnosed with breast cancer every three minutes, and every year approximately 50,000 die from this disease.

For this reason we would like to introduce the "Pretty Bald in Pink" Photo CAMPAIGN

This campaign will show some of the most important fashion figures on the grid going bald to show support for the cause.

The idea is not to raise money, but to raise conscience and awareness about a subject that concern us all, to some more direct than to others.

If you wish to take part of this campaign follow this simple steps.

1. Style yourself in any style you would like to portray. Groups, Couples or singles are accepted.

2. Get completely bald, we mean absolutely no hair on your head.

3. IM one of the photographers in the campaign and ask for an appointment and ask him/her for the pink ribbon and add it to the style you already created.

4. Pass the word around.

These campaign will run only on October, so make sure you make your appointment before the month is over.

MEB New Collection: Clarissa and Bonita

The MEB Fall Collection is one of their best yet. I want all the outfits!

But today I choose to show you two, Clarissa and Bonita. Bonita also comes in another version with a skirt hitched higher up and a beautiful collar to go with.. I couldn't decide but chose this one in the end.

Clarissa is a beauUutiful dress with the best texture MariaElena Barbosa has pulled out - and she's known for her textures! How could I say no. It mixes red and fuchsia and the skirt is layered with both, the effect is fabulous! Great for an event where you have to look chic!

Bonita is a cute black and pale pink dress, for clubbing, going shopping, or going to visit some girlfriends. Accessorized properly it works for the evening as well, it includes a bolero jacket for when it gets cooler.

Both come with the MEB stilettos so are perfect as complete prèt-à-porter sets, without too much fussing; I hence chose to show you the heels as well.

And well of course they both come in PINK lol!

For Khaki I wasn't really sure what to do, given that the swatch seemed more yellowish to me than what I think of as khaki.

Then I was with my friend Bety who was having to style some lingerie and banging her head against the wall about it, and I remembered this old set I had used for a Blacklace contest.

I think it still looks good, and decided to use it for my outfit.

There remained the question of how and where; well it just so happens I was talking to Luna who reminded me not only of her store, !Bang poses, but of the parcel as well. So last night I went over there and did some piccies.

I then went to the studio and tried some there but wasn't very happy with the result. The red one you see was shot there. The sofa is from Glitterati-X Pole Dance

It opens Thursday, September 22, 2011, at 22.00, in Piazza Plebiscito Napoli in Second Life, and Friday, September 23, 2011, at the Museum of Metaverse in OpenSim Craft, the first of twenty-two exhibitions of the project Art & Poetry.

22-poems, 22 weeks, 22 sites, 22 exhibitions, 132 works.

1 permanent exhibition dedicated to the poet Carmen Auletta (aka Margy Ryba) and its "painted poems".

The event is the continuation of the activities of Museo del Metaverso, in the already marked direction, in the belief that virtual worlds are spaces, albeit with a strong emotional component, however, suitable for construction of complex cultural events”

The initiative will be immersed in an international dimension,the cross-media and mixed reality, with the activation of a network that, through the social networks, virtual worlds and physical locations, will seek partnerships and collaborations with various subjects, internet players and the world of culture and art in general.

The first link with a place of art will take place in the second week of exhibitions, specifically from September 29 to October 2, 2011, a period in which a live streaming will be enabled with Cannes, the Croisette, where from 27 June is in progress a personal exhibition of Patrick Moya. In the same day will be a link with Bogota, Colombia, for the presentation of performance by Pyewacket Kazianenko, Kai Steamer and Jo Ellsmere.
The initiative aims to focus attention on the art, through poetry, by linking new media art, born and developed in virtual worlds and the Neapolitan dialect poetry, born from the rich vein of contemporary poet Carmen Auletta. Two art forms that arise "from below" who meet in this project, communicating with each other.
Poetry and art have value in itself, it will be interesting to see the meeting of the two kinds and the story that will emerge, will not be relevant different interpretations of Carmen's poems by the artists, will be important only the poems and the works on display and suggestions that they evoke.

The aim of the project is to let the two kinds talk and watch the story that poetry and art, in this case poetry in Neapolitan language and new media art, will do.

52 Weeks of Color - Liver - Week 43

For this week's challenge, Liver, I was clueless even how to look. Even assuming Search or Marketplace came up with something, god knows what it might be.

However, I still had Janie Marlowe's shop in my mind, and I seemed to remember... something that - just - might - work.

Looking at Luna's swatch and this dress I thought they were pretty close.

Everyone else was already posting and I wanted to get something in quick. I was going to go search for a place to do the shoot at, but nothing appropriate came to mind, although I have probably been in a million places.

These were shot as I hung around talking with Bourbie who was wearing her new pencil skirt. I hadn't seen it in her blog yet; I think I'll have to get one too! Not to mention the cute dress.

Well I basically dragged her over to our tub - I wanted to match with the wood paneling there:

All my pictures came out the wrong size.

Kirsten's windows were occupying too much space so I clicked the "LESS" button on the Snapshot tool to hide unwanted details. But I had forgotten that resets resolution to default screen size, 1920x1030. Rather than the 6016 by 3227 I usually shoot in. So this one is the only one in high resolution...

52 Weeks of Color - Chartreuse - Week 42 - Mesh

OK, so today I'm really late. So all the favorites I had saved in Marketplace go thrown out the window. Neat Photoshop effects ditto.

However...

There is a REASON.

I fired up Kirstens today. I knew shadows won't work in this release for me.

But I wanted it for another reason.

After seeing some fellow bloggers' work, like Eliza and Luna Jubilee herself, I got tempted to go investigate the new technologies.

I needed Kirstens for that because my Firestorm viewer does not yet support...

MESH!

I hope this looks vaguely like Chartreuse....

This is without the alpha prim. Notice my shoulders and top showing through

Jane! was the first store I could find with mesh items. And she was so sweet as to put in demos! So I tried those but they were unable to be photographed and I liked her things I decided to buy them.

A few imperfections around bent knee

I learned a few things along the way. Mesh objects are PRIMS. They have to be attached, not worn. Also, they require an alpha texture or some pieces of you show through - like inner thighs, elbows, assorted odds n ends.

I tried various poses to see what would happen. The mesh outfit did wreak a little havok with my prim nails.. But I'll sort that out eventuallly.

I guess the hoodie isn't exactly for this kind of season, but.. :P

Outfits come in 2 sizes, large and small, this is a requirement

I got a skirt from Jane's too, to see how well it would manage.

Lastly, a quickie in my living room of this pretty dress in my notoriously messy AO. Held up real well!! YAY!

Weekly Words Challenge - 3 - Deliberate

Deliberate

I chose these shots for Gidge Uriza's Blogger Challenge. This week the theme is Deliberate.
I interpret the word to mean something strongly intentional with a lot of effort put in to reach a target or goal.

These were done a while back to apply for Modavia Supermodels. I spent a lot of time getting the outfit, all the accessories, and the place for the shoot. I had something specific in mind - the theme was "Paris In The Springtime" from the Cole Porter song, and I had remembered the Montmartre sim, alas now gone.

Montmartre is a place I remember fondly from my RL, and envisioned some of the streets I went through in the sim on several occasions of my trips to Paris.

The first phase of the casting was sending a headshot and a bodyshot, and I was determined to pass that phase. What came after I didn't think about yet.

The outfit I saw at a fashion show and I must say it looked much better on me than on her ;)

I was accepted into the next step and this shoot has a special significance for me.

Second shot was done in studio with location background; both went through Photoshop to some degree

Yay bikinis! Africa collection - brought to you by Amarelo Manga

The other day I got called by Luana Barzane in IM. She is the owner and designer of Amarelo Manga store, together with her partner, and she told me she had created the new Africa collection.

Sure enough, her website and Flickr showed the newest designs!

She said she had received my mail, and would I like to blog for her new collection, which of course I did!

I had found her store quite by chance, in another blog; she had this fabulous leather jumpsuit which I just HAD to get, and of course I got a swimsuit and a pair of cool jeans too. On the other side was a whole bikini and swimwear section with some very pretty things! I bought a one piece swimsuit, rare for me, but just adorable!

The store has been recently remodeled; she also has a skin designer downstairs now and collaborates with SimILar shoes which can only be an excellent choice. And an adorable little vintage peep-toe pump in several colors!

Also downstairs are jewelry sets by her [AM] brand.

She gave me three bikinis - what better way to enjoy the summer!
