INFORMATION ON BALLETPiIXELLE ™
http://www.balletpixelle.org/

myspace.com/balletpixelle
balletpixelle.blogspot.com
Ballet Pixelle ™ produces professional works that creatively utilize the Second Life and First Life environments; we produce classical, neo-classical, contemporary, and eclectic ballets for and with the residents of Second Life.
Our dancers perform original animations created especially for each ballet. Ballet Pixelle™ cast members live literally all around the world and in performance, dance to the music as he or she hear it, coordinating their movement with other dancers on our stage. The musical scores are original works written for these new ballets.
Roles are available for dancers, designers, composers, animators, supporters, and audience members. All welcome!
There are currently over 800 members in Ballet Pixelle™ , which is our fan group. To join, see the group "Ballet Pixelle"; there is no cost to join. Among other things, you will receive special invitations to performances.
Ballets
- Our debut ballet was the premiere of "Olmannen", an original 3-act fantasy story ballet written, choreographed, and directed by Inarra Saarinen with original music by Alazarin Mondrian, and danced by Amber Shablin, Alina Mikadze, Chryssie Bunnyhug, and Amelie Dibou. The ballet played over 6 months to consistently full sims and was also performed for our one-year anniversary.
- Our second ballet was the premiere of "Windows", an original 3-act vignette ballet following loves lost and won. The animations and choreography were by Inarra Saarinen and an original score was composed for the ballet by Louis Volare.
- Our third ballet was "The Nut" and is our version of the beloved holiday classic "The Nutcracker". Here dolls became princes, Arabian women dance on flying carpets, and even snowflakes dance! Animations and choreography were by Inarra Saarinen and music was by the Bolshoi Ballet Theatre Orchestra. We expanded and performed this ballet again during the 2008 holiday season.
- Our fourth ballet was "Phylogeny" which was performed with Indiana University/Purdue University with a live orchestra in First Life while the ballet was projected on a wide screen and performed simultaneously in Second Life.
- Our fifth full production was a three-act original story ballet "Shuzenji". This ballet tells the story of love, commitment, and loss set in Edo era Japan. The premiere was June 1, 2008.
- Our sixth ballet was "Je t'Aime", a series of vignettes about Parisien life.
- Our seventh three-act play about a "Living Goddess".
- Our eight ballet is "Degas Dances" and is being performed Sundays at 5:00pm SLT through November 2009.

Auditions
We audition dancers for each ballet. <http://www.balletpixelle.org/audition.html>
We are looking for commitment first and foremost -- you must be able to attend almost all rehearsals (so we don't repeat) and almost all performances (so we are not scambling at the last minute). If you cannot be certain of this level of commitment for SL or First Life reasons, please do not audition or accept a role. Sorry, but we all need to be fair to the other dancers. To give you an idea of the amount of time required, we rehearsed from November through February twice a week for 2 hours each rehearsal for our debut ballet. Out of 32 rehearsals plus private coaching, each dancer only missed one rehearsal.
